Friday morning will see Derek and a group of volunteers meet at Tulchan gates at 530am (yes I do mean AM) to then travel to pick up the poults and return with them to release in the pens. Over the summer months several syndicate members have been refreshing old pens and creating the new pen next to the clear fell. Derek has added the feeders in these pens with the remaining feeders to be placed around the estate later when the poults are looking to start wandering from the pens.
Ducks and partridge with follow I the coming months, but recent weeks. Have seen ducks with their ducklings on the top pond and several hens and cock pheasants have been spotted, but no chicks.
The game crop also looks well established and thanks to all those, particularly Alistair, who patrolled the crop keeping the pigeons at bay.
Finally the new “shoot bothy” is weather tight and the plumbing is due to be completed soon. Next task is to shift the table and chairs from the old caravan up to the bothy and the old caravan disposed of.
