Dear All
This Thursday sees the start of the Tulchan Pheasant season.
with three of the 4 duck nights now completed I am sure most of you have been impressed with the noise of he evening chorus from the pheasants as they have gone into roost. Hopefully a good sign. The ducks have been great again this year with 20 being shot on the last Saturday shoot. Hopefully a few more will remain for the final Thursday's session.
If the pheasant noise indicates a positive sign for the season then the good game crops, roosting pheasants in the beaches and the penetration of the birch wood are also great signs. Younger poults from nearby shoots have also been spotted on the estate so hopefully they remain for the start of the season.
Derek has been making great efforts on a daily business and syndicate members continue to invest time and efforts such as our two vice captains who recently installed our partridges and have been keeping the fox population as restricted as possible.
The impact of retaining and attracting pheasants mean that our wheat stores are reducing rapidly. This investment should see good numbers being shot in the sessions prior to the Christmas break requiring less feeding in the new year.
All that remains from this update is to wish the Thursday guns good shooting on the 4th when they meet at 9am for a 9.30 start at the Shoot Hut.
Good health.
Neil
