Progress continues with the workdays.
The main report that I have had is in relation to the feeders, water troughs, etc.
Rob and I collected these in a few weeks ago, depositing them at the Shoot Hut. This was made somewhat easier because Derek had gone out and gathered many of them to the nearest fence. It was also a good opportunity to gather up a lot of the debris that we will all have noticed over the shooting season. Copious amounts of usable wire (now at the hut and available for pen building), plastic feed bags, batteries (car) and various other things.
The following week Brian, Gordon and Ken undertook what must have been a rubbish job to clean all these with a power hose. I know for the first hand experience how dirty they were so am quite excited about the impact this will make during the season. Repairs were also made to the feeders and we now have 80 for Rob and I to redistribute.
Derek is in the process of marking up a map to chart the feeding strategy. We will then deploy the feeders according to this and place the map on the wall in the bothy.
In addition to cleaning the feeders have been numbered so that during the season we can report back any feeders that are empty. This information can be recorded alongside the map giving us intelligence on which feeders are getting “hit” more often.
A final activity I can report on was the rather aggressive haircut Rob and I gave some of the bushes at the main duck pond. This should definitely increase visibility from at least two of the butts.
I am aware that other activity has been going on, but haven’t received any reports from leaders or syndicate members so please let me know by emailing: armstrongnj@tulchanshoot.co.uk
